Islam and Secularism are simply incompatible. In Secularism, every one has right to freedom of religion and conscience. But in Islam, apostates (Muslims who discord Islam) must be put to death like an Egyptian cleric says in the below video:

Freedom of religion in Islam: In Philippines Muslim mob kills a Muslim who converted to Christianity

We do not really have to go to Philippines to see how Muslims or Muslim organization enforce Sharia and its components as it happens in India too. Two months before, so called Sharia courts in Kashmir either expelled Christian pastors or ordered that pastors be arrested for activities of proselytization. As usual our secular media kept silent on this and, and by nature of their silence, these Sharia courts, however unconstitutional, are legitimatized in their existence.

Probably, days are not far away - in India - when so called Hindu secular politicians - in their zeal to appease Muslims for votes - sanction existence of Sharia courts throughout India parallel to present day legal system.

For Non-Muslims to feel Islamic imperialism infidel majority nations like India and West, Sharia law need not be adopted completely as sharia elements are part of beliefs of Muslims. Here, the belief that Muslims who leave Islam should be killed directly comes from command of Prophet Mohammad himself as he said: "Kill any Muslim who discords his religion..." (Sahih Bukhari; 4:52:260)

There are always some Muslims in every society who take this to heart and act upon it (one recent case in India  or here ) as Allah exhorts all Muslim men to obey and follow example of Prophet Mohammad in about 90 verses in Koran.

Even when living under infidel laws, these acts by Muslims committed in the name of Islam do effect how people think and behave. The fear that some 'Muslims might harm' always exists. This fear is an important part of Islam. In fact, there is no Islam without fear.

How does this compare with apologists of Islam claiming Islam respects all religions and guarantees freedom of religion? Or - my personal favorite - Islamic law is compatible with modern democracy and secularism? Or the claim of ordinary Muslims that THERE IS NO COMPULSION IN ISLAM?

The simplest truth is that there is neither freedom of religion nor freedom of conscience in Islam.

Koran exhorts Muslims to fight Non-Muslims until they either convert to Islam or pay Jizya and live in abasement. Yes, that is what 'abasement' the condition of Non-Muslims should be (verse 9:29).

Or Prophet Mohammad simply says ".........kill any Muslim who changes his religion ...."

Islamic law (Sharia law) prescribes death penalty to Muslims who leave Islam.

The Reliance of Traveller, manual of Islamic sacred law (i.e. Sharia law) - which is certified to be authentic and reliable - lays down following conditions for Non-Muslims to abide under the condition that any breach of these rules by Non-Muslims leads to punishment by death (here):

With this kind of Islamic, or identical to this, Iran literally sentenced a Muslim (who converted to Christianity and became pastor) to death  and it has arrested dozens of Muslims who converted to Christianity.

It looks like even these measures couldn't stop the tide of Muslims converting to Christianity - yes, there are many Muslims who are troubled by fascist document Koran and ways and life of Islam's Prophet (Prophet Mohammad).

But in the end, it is all the same.

'Truly Asia' aka multicultural Malaysia can not understand that Islam professes freedom of religion!!

With more than 55% of population of Malaysia being Muslim, constitution of Malaysia has two sets of laws: one for Muslims and another for Non-Muslims.

And there are no prizes for guessing that set of laws for Non-Muslims is completely discriminatory when compared to laws for Muslims besides the obvious fact of Malaysia declaring Islam as its official religion. Muslim leaders of Malaysia openly support special privileges for Muslims and deride those who question this kind of institution of 'legalized' discrimination.

One aspect of all this is freedom of religion and freedom of conscience. By law, all ethnic Malays are declared Muslims and they have no right to convert to other religion (to be more accurate, a Muslim has to get permission from a Sharia court to change his religion and Sharia law sanctions death penalty to Muslim apostates; till now, there is no case of a Sharia court allowing a Muslim to change his identity.) But others can convert to Islam. Similarly, Muslims can proselytize but not others leading to ridiculous claims by Muslims i.e if a Muslim has converted to Christianity then he was enticed by Christians and if a Non-Muslim converted to Islam then he has seen justice in Islam. Only Muslims are capable of bragging about justice even in institutionalized discriminatory system.

Like sharia - which controls every aspect of Muslim's life - be it political, social, religious and legal - Malay's law too invades and interferes with every every aspect.

The strangest (more importantly it is very cruel) being how Muslim officials declare Non-Muslims as Muslims and seize their children. And following case illustrates this:

Iranian court sentences a Muslim woman for converting to Christianity

Although authorities have cited other reasons like anti-Islamic activities and anti-state activities for her arrest, charging and punishment, the real reason is that she converted to Christianity as this is not the first such case nor will not be the last in Iran

Two years imprisonment is the punishment!!

But Islam pronounces death penalty for apostates (those who leave Islam to other faiths) as Prophet Mohammad, founder of Islam, said,"Kill any one who leaves Islam...".

Incidentally, all major Islamic schools thought in Sunni Islam and Shia award death penalty to Muslim apostates. Now is it that all these schools misunderstood Koran and its peaceful message of 'No compulsion in Islam ......' and 'Your religion to you and my religion to me' so profoundly.

Iranian Christian convert sentenced to two years in prison

A Christian convert whom security authorities arrested in her home was sentenced to two years in prison by the Revolutionary Court in Tehran. 

According to reports sent by reporters of Iranian Christian news agency, Mohabat News, Ms. Leila Mohammadi, a Christian convert who resided east of Tehran, was sentenced to two years of imprisonment after enduring 5 months of uncertainty in notorious Evin prison. 

Her trial was held on 18 January in Revolutionary Court in Moalem street where she was charged with "collaboration with foreign-dependent groups, broad anti-Islamic propaganda, deceiving citizens by formation of what is called a house church, Insulting sacred figures and action against national security." However she was acquitted of collaboration with foreign-dependent groups because the judge believed she had done that unintentionally. For the other charges she was sentenced to two years in prison and the ruling was delivered to her. 

After the verdict was issued knowledgeable sources reported that her attorney announced that the case was sent to the high court of Tehran province to be reviewed. 

Leila Mohammadi, was arrested after a number of security agents raided her home on 30 July, 2011 at 10:30 P.M. in Kianshahr town, east of Tehran. The agents thoroughly searched her house and also confiscated some of her belongings. 

Ms. Mohammadi was taken to Horr custody center which belongs to the Iranian police forces. From there, she was transferred to Evin prison. On 28 December 2011, she was released on a bail of 150,000 USD after 74 days in harsh conditions in solitary confinement in Evin prison.
It is being reported that some other people were also arrested in relation to this case. According to this report, some days after Ms. Mohammadi's arrest, another person called Parviz G. was also arrested by security agents. Again, in this case they thoroughly searched Parviz G's house and seized his belongings including his computer. He was freed after spending three days in Evin custody center and being subjected to interrogations and signing a disclaimer. It seems that his arrest was related to evangelical activities of his wife "Masoumeh" who was linked to the case of Leila Mohammadi.

The freedom of worship in Islam!! Saudis arrest 35 Christians because they were praying in their houses

Sure, Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam and cradle of Islam, misunderstands Islam and gets Islamaphobic too! Because Islamists in sheep clothes accuse people like me as Islamaphobic for saying there is no freedom of religion in Islam.

Media and politicians continue to label critics who say truth about Islam and that Islam is supremacist as Islamaphobes and no one really cares or questions such practice by Saudi Arabia.

The bigger point people miss is that Saudi Arabia spends Billions of dollars in construction of mosques, Islamic centers and other Islamic infrastructure in infidel majority countries for proselytizing. Could this be a double standard? We call it Islamic supremacism.

Thirty-five Christians have been jailed in Saudi Arabia for worshiping in their own homes according to a recent report. The news only surfaced this week that the Christians have been imprisoned for over a month.

Jonathan Racho of International Christian Concern says it is no wonder that Christians there worship in their homes because of the danger they face.

"In Saudi Arabia there is no church," says the ICC spokesman. "There is no other place of worship other than mosques -- so the Christians in Saudi Arabia only gather at their private homes to worship. And when they worship, as you can see in this particular example, they could also be arrested."

Racho was able to talk with one of the female prisoners by phone and explains that prisoners are suffering because of lack of proper medical attention. "They told me that especially the male prisoners have been assaulted by the Saudi officials," he shares.

One of the prisoners told Racho that a Saudi official insulted them by telling them they are non-believers, animals, and supporters of America.

He adds the Christians are waiting for justice, which to them means their release from prison and the ability to worship freely.

No compulsion in Islam!! Two Iranian converts to Christianity stabbed in Norway

Why did they do that? Ashghar Ali Engineer tells us Islam was the first one to practice freedom of religion through the verse "No complusion in Islam ......" But those who knew Islam and read Koran, Hadith, Sira and Sharia knew better. The reason those two were stabbed because Islamists want to create a state of fear and culprits believed their acts are legal in Islamic theology.

Norway: Two Iranian converts attacked, called 'kuffar'

Two Iranians who converted from Islam to Christianity were stabbed by masked me in Haugesund last week. The attacker shouted 'Kuffar' (Arabic for non-believer) during the attack.

The attack happened Tuesday evening, when both Christian Iranians were out walking in Haugesund. They were suddenly attacked by three masked men armed with knives, who shouted 'kuffar' while they stabbed the two.

A nurse passing by gave first aid and then an ambulance brought them to hospital, reports Haugesunds Avis.

According to the police, one of the victims was stabbed twice in the back and the other was stabbed in his side. No perpetrators have been caught.

The two victims want to remain anonymous and have not spoken of the assault. They've lived in Norway for many years. One of them converted in Norway, the other did so in Iran and managed to flee to Norway after he was abused and imprisoned for his faith.

They're both active in a local evangelical church.

'They've very active in the community, and have also bore witness to their faith during meetings,' says their pastor, who also wants to remain anonymous, since he often travels to Muslim countries where Christians are persecuted.

He's certain that the attack was religiously motivated. "I'm totally sure of it. Since the attackers shouted 'kuffar' during the attack, I have no doubt about it."

He says he didn't expect such things to happen in Haugesund. "It's very dramatic and surprising. I didn't take that into account. I hadn't heard of threats against any coverts in the area."

If Muslims are in majority, there will be some sort of law preventing Muslims leave Islam and punishing Muslims who leave Islam to other religion. This is state totalitarianism coming directly from sharia and Sunna (example of Mohammad) and Koran.

When Muslims are in minority - since such Islamic laws can not be formulated - it is totalitarianism of extremist organizations, terrorist cells  or extremist cells and presence of many devout Muslims who are always ready to kill and commit violence which create a state of fear among Muslims (Non-Muslims too) and influencing their behavior and decisions.

The examples are a security guard killing the former governor of Punjab(Pakistan) - Salman Taseer -, murdering of Theo Van Gogh by a Muslim in Netherlands and ordeal of Riqba Bary in USA when she converted to Christianity.

Why only devout Muslims commit such crimes and why we find so many of such cases in Islamic system only? The answer is simple.

Koran explicitly commands Muslims to follow and obey Mohammad, founder of Islam; Allah in Koran even says Prophet is paragon of virtues for all Muslim men. And Prophet Mohammad ordered killing of people - who criticized his raids on civilian caravans and villages - and opposed him and questioned his prophethood. He plundered. He raped Non-Muslim women. He tortured people to death. He ordered killing of Muslims who leave Islam.

Some verses from Koran in reference to Muslim men following the example of Prophet Mohammad and obeying his commands:

You have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of Allah. (Koran 33:21)

"O you who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and those charged with authority among you........." (Koran 4:59)

"O you who believe! Obey Allah and His Messenger, and turn not away from him when ye hear (him speak)." (Koran 8:20)

"Say: "If you do love Allah, Follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Koran 3:31)

One simple question you can ask yourselves is why do so many Muslim men grow beard? After-all Koran never tells them to grow beard or apply perfumes. The answer is Mohammad lived liked that. Mohammad had beard and liked and applied perfumes.

As above verses from Koran say that to be forgiven by Allah, Muslims should follow Prophet Mohammad, which means total bliss is only possible by emulating Prophet Mohammad. The greatest Islamic scholar, Iman Ghazali, writes: "Know that the key to total bliss lies in following the Sunnah and in emulating the life of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) in all that issues from him, and in all his doings even if it concerns the manner of his eating, rising, sleeping, and speaking. I do say thisin relation to rituals in worship ONLY because ther is no way neglecting the Sunnah reported of him in such matters - but what I say includes every aspect of his daily life". (Kitab al Arbain Addin, Cairo 1344, p. 89).

All this leads to fanatical and lunatic behavior from devout Muslims. When Islamic apologists and so called 'moderate' Muslims say those Muslims commting terrorism are not Muslims at all, they are simply lying. They(terrorists) are devout and belive that their death is testimony to their belief and killing infidels will take them closer to Allah. And Muslims who die in Jihad directly go to paradise with out having to do some time in hell.

What do we hear from 'plum' Islamophiles and Islamists? Nothing less than that Islam respects all religions, freedom of religion and freedom of conscience. On the ground, truth is so much distant from what they say could be gauged by noticing that out of 57 Muslim majority nations, 55 nations have Islam as official religion or declared themselves as Islamic; in all these countries secularism is blasphemy.

Indonesia - one of remaining two - is secular only in name as one of its provinces implements Sharia - including stoning for adultery - and numerous Islamic groups enforce sharia by targeting Christians and Churches. Recently a person was even arrested because he was an atheist and also created a page in facebook saying there is no God. Moreover, this is what a human rights organization says:  Violence against Indonesia’s religious minorities surges.  

At the other extreme, one can see Saudi Arabia where it is prohibited to construct other places of worship -  like churches and temples - and also that infidels can not take Bibles or other symbols to Saudi Arabia.

After-all, Prophet Mohammad said, "kill any one who leaves Islam (Sahih Bukhari - 52:260)".

However one think on secularism, it is simply incompatible with Islam. Concept of freedom of religion is never a part of Islamic discourse. Slogan of Muslim apologists - like Sultan Shahin, Ashghar Ali Engineer - that "there is no compulsion in Islam" is an effort in direction of misguiding non-Muslims and to keep them in false sense of security.

Prophet said, "If somebody (Muslim) discards his religion, kill him." (Sahih Bukhari; vol. 4, book 52, # 260)

Prophet said, "The blood of a Muslim who confesses that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that I am His Apostle, cannot be shed except in three cases: In Qisas for murder, a married person who commits illegal sexual intercourse and the one who reverts from Islam (apostate) and leaves the Muslims."(Sahih Bukhari; vol. 9, book 83, # 17)

Reliance of Traveller, an English version version of "Umdat as-Salik wa 'Uddat an-Nasik" - Sharia law book [fiqh] of Shafi'i school of Sunni Islam - and also certified by Al-Azhar university [most influential institute in Sunni Islam] says in divison 'o' and section 8 that leaving Islam is the ugliest form of unbelief and clause @o8.1 says (here):

Maududi, founder of Jamaat-e-Islaami, supports death penalty for apostasy on the basis of Koran too and one can read it here. 

If Islamic states deny freedom of religion through laws and arresting apostates, in non-Muslim countries one can always find some (enough) pious Muslims enforcing this code of sharia law:" death to or violence on Muslims who convert to other religions. The effect is the same because we do not see any condemnation of such heinous acts by media or so called liberal guardians and spokesmen of morality and this kind only encourages more Muslims to act in such punitive manner.

A MAN has been locked up for attacking another man in the street with a plank of wood.

Nottingham Crown Court heard that Sher Ahmadzai, 20, hit his victim with a metre-long plank, causing him to fall over during the attack in Radford.

Another man then started punching and kicking the fallen man in the face.

The victim escaped without serious injury but was left with a sore jaw and leg pain.

The court heard Ahmadzai knew his victim and both were members of the Afghan community.

The man was of Muslim faith but converted to Christianity after claiming asylum here.

"This did not sit well with the defendant," said prosecutor Paul Stimson.

"That culminated in the assault in October last year in Hartley Road.".............

A Christian in Algeria imprisoned for 5 years for sharing his faith with a Muslim

Here, I just keep asking for an example of a Muslim majority country that is secular and democratic. Sure, some ignorant people will come up with 2 or 3 names but a simple google check on these give a  contradictory situation existing on ground. It is pertinent to recall that OIC (Organization of Islamic Countries) - a representative body of 57 Muslim majority nations - declared in the year 1991 that their source of laws will be Sharia law and Sharia law will be the ultimate arbitrator in resolving issues. Sharia law effectively bans propagation of any other faith, construction or reparation  of churches or temples and celebration of non-Islamic festivals in public etc.

In line with this kind of philosophy, Algeria shuts down 7 churches and imprisons a Christian because he was sharing his faith with a Muslim (here).

Washington -- International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that an Algerian Christian was sentenced to five years imprisonment for blasphemy in Oran on Wednesday after sharing his Christian faith with a neighbor. The verdict came days after authorities forced the permanent closure of seven Protestant churches in Algeria's Béjaia province.

Siagh Krimo was charged by the Criminal Court of the Djamel District in Oran, who based their decision on Article 144 bis 2 of the Penal Code which criminalizes acts that "insult the prophet and any of the messengers of God, or denigrate the creed and precepts of Islam, whether by writing, drawing, declaration, or any other means." Krimo has ten days to appeal the sentence.

Krimo, who is married with a nine month old child, was arrested on April 14, along with another Christian, Sofiane, after sharing his Christian faith with a neighbor. Sofiane was released soon after the arrest, while Krimo was detained for three days. Krimo was known to hold weekly prayer services at his home, which Algerian Christians suspect were being closely monitored by the police........

These same Islamic nations spend Billions of Dollars for propagation of Islamic faith in infidel majority countries like USA, Europe and India etc.. They sponsor construction of mega mosques and Islamic centers - supposedly cultural but the real purpose is conversion - in all most all non-Muslim majority nations.

If ever one questions this one way traffic, so called Muslim reformers and their non-Muslim apologetics come up with bizarre arguments in Islam's defense ranging from 'Islam followed by all present day Islamic countries is not real Islam' to 'this is because of arrogance of petro dollars'.

After 1400 years, Muslim majority states do not know about their true Islam!!!

Blasphemy law and State of fear

Blasphemy law of Islam is anachronistic. It is, nevertheless, a vital component of religion, Islamic culture and Islamic law (Sharia) as it is used to suppress any dissent or criticism of Sharia law itself. Totalitarian systems never tolerate any criticism and Islam is more than totalitarian system; combined with its ideology of expansionism by any means, it is fascist to the core.

With regard to non-Muslims, blasphemy law can also become an instrument in the hands of some Muslims to persecute, harass, victimize and threaten non-Muslims (as we have seen in the two previous posts) because of absurdity of law that can be seen from the fact that it rests entirely on the words of accuser.

What makes this blasphemy law more deadly and baneful is the resonance that accusation of blasphemy like burning of Koran, disrespect to Islam and dishonoring Prophet Mohammad strikes with Muslim masses; even rumors of blasphemy by non-Muslims are sufficient to trigger massive violence by Muslim mobs. The wide support for blasphemy law among Muslim societies can be seen from results of opinion polls conducted by pew and reactions of Muslims in Pakistan to killing of Salman Taseer. In Pakistan, after the birth of a rumor of blasphemy, even courts acquitting the accused will not save the victim.

There are apologetics who would say that poverty may be the cause of such irrational anger besides madrassa education. Are 500 lawyers showering rose petals on killer of Salman Taseer products of madrassas? Are those people who supported Salman Taseer in face book using English language and internet products of madrassas? The answer is clear for those who wanted to see what is right before their eyes; the answer is what is in Islamic sacred texts and what they say and their Prophet did. Good education or English education does not mean that Muslims are less likely to be Islamic or less likely to hate non-Muslims. It is proven beyond doubt that in most countries (esp. countries like U.K, Pakistan and U.S.A) well educated people are more Islamic than their parents were.

How is it that Muslims are so sensitive to criticism of their ideology (or to perceived slights or insults from infidels) apart from the fact that their holy and sacred texts condemn blasphemy and advocate death for blasphemy?  Is it not surprising that reports or rumors of blasphemy will bring out angry mobs on to streets while deadly suicide bombings like the latest suicide bombing that killed 80 Muslims in Pakistan do not produce similar outrage from Muslims? I just outlined some reasons for such outrage and also its (Blasphemy law) overall impact on society

Their (Muslims) view that Muslims are superior and are supposed to be dominant and rulers in this world coupled with the view that infidels are inferior, subhuman and perverted transgressors deserving suppression or subjugation for the sake of preservation of world - as Allah revealed these in Koran, it is only naïve on part of non-Muslims not to believe that Muslims do not believe in such things esp. after uncovering of what is taught in many mosques and Islamic schools – and its implication that superiors (Muslims) will never take or tolerate insults from inferiors (non-Muslims).

Added to this feeling of superiority, which in turn is alleviated by their past military conquests, feeling of humiliation resulting from the reality that USA or some infidel countries are dominating this world (or earth) and relatively low achievements of Islamic societies compared to others in many fields is simply another reason.

Finally, Blasphemy law serves Islamic purpose very well. Whether Christians in Pakistan have been terrorized by Muslims using allegations of blasphemy law or Coptics of Egypt and Hindus of Bangladesh (and also Pakistan) have been terrorized by abduction of their women, terror serves purpose of Islam in encouraging infidels to convert to Islam out of concern for their safety (here, here).

A Muslim commentator said that instilling terror in to hearts of non-Muslims is one of aims of Jihad and also a directive from Allah (verse 8:12). He also stresses terror is not just means but also an end state (here). All this means reducing non-Muslims in to a miserable state of fear and terror from which they dare not oppose discriminatory Islamic rule (or law) and continue living as non-Muslims with liability (i.e. paying jizya and accepting humiliation terms under Sharia); of course there is another choice available to non-Muslims: convert to Islam. (One can see now the idea of ‘no compulsion in Islam’)

Considering actions of Prophet Mohammad, there is more than basis in using state of fear, terror and therats to convert infidels to Islam and this approach is always open to Muslims as Koran says Prophet Mohammad was an example in moral code, ethics and conduct to Muslims to follow for eternity. If he did something, Muslims can very well do it. The Arabic expression to describe this kind of threat is 'aslim taslam' meaning 'be a Muslim and you will be safe'. As the following hadiths show, there can never be any real security to non-Muslims in under Islamic law or in Islamic society.

Allah's Apostle said: "I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Apostle, and offer the prayers perfectly and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform that, then they save their lives and property from me except for Islamic laws and then their reckoning (accounts) will be done by Allah." (Sahih Bukhari; vol. 1, book 2, # 25)

It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira who said: We were (sitting) in the mosque when the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) came to us and said: (Let us) go to the Jews. We went out with him until we came to them. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) stood up and called out to them (saying): O ye assembly of Jews, accept Islam (and) you will be safe........He said to them (the same words) the third time (and on getting the same reply) he added: You should know that the earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle, and I wish that I should expel you from this land Those of you who have any property with them should sell it, otherwise they should know that the earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle (and they may have to go away leaving everything behind). (Sahih Muslim; book 19, # 4363)

Suhail reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said on the Day of Khaibar: I shall certainly give this standard in the hand of one who loves Allah and his Messenger and Allah will grant victory at his hand.......Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) called 'Ali b. Abu Talib and he conferred (this honour) upon him and said: Proceed on and do not look about until Allah grants you victory, and 'Ali went a bit and then halted and did not look about and then said in a loud voice: Allah's Messenger, on what issue should I fight with the people? Thereupon he (the Prophet) said: Fight with them until they bear testimony to the fact that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his Messenger, and when they do that then their blood and their riches are inviolable from your hands but what is justified by law and their reckoning is with Allah. (Sahih Muslim; book 31, # 5917)

THE AFFAIR OF FADAK: When the apostle (Prophet Mohammad) had finished with Khaybar, Allah struck terror to the hearts of the men of Fadak when they heard what the apostle had done to the men of Khaybar. They sent to him an offer of peace on condition that they should keep half of their produce. Their messengers came to him in Khaybar and he accepted their terms. Thus, Fadak became his (Prophet Mohammad) private property because it has not been attacked by horse or camel. (Ibn Ishaq, page 523)

Every Islamic society and culture is conditioned by such teachings and in that atmosphere, the only way for non-Muslims to be assured of security is conversion to Islam which could explain why no. of non-Muslims is dropping in Islamic societies. At some point, the will of infidels to hold on to their native belief cracks down in the face of harsh constrains of Sharia law and hostility of Muslims.

'No compulsion in Islam'. A Christian in Pakistan given choice between death and converting to Islam.

A passionate quote from modern day Muslim apologists on freedom of religion in Islam goes like, "there is no compulsion in religion.(verse 2:256)" To recall, Islam gives three options to people of book (Jews and Christians): 1. convert to Islam 2. or pay Jizya and live like second class citizen by accepting humiliating conditions 3. or fight and die. Its choice to polytheists (like Hindus and Buddhists) is two fold: death or conversion to Islam. Among four schools of Jurisprudence, Hanafi differs slightly from others as it extends choice of paying Jizya and status of dhimmi to polytheists too. But, there is never any guarantee that even if infidels are paying Jizya and living in state of humiliation, physical security of infidels is 100% as history shows. More importantly, there can never be any equality between Muslims and Non Muslims as it goes with out saying disbelief in Islam is the worst form of corruption. “Convert or die”. Masih Gill, a Christian from the city of Mardan, in the province of “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” (Northern Pakistan), was threatened with these words by a group of Muslims with whom he had been speaking, after the recent episode of the burning of the Koran in the US.

This event caused violent reactions in Pakistan (three churches attacked in a week) by Muslim extremists. Nearly one dozen UN guards were killed on April 1, while two were beheaded. Local sources say that Masih Gill simply defended his faith, saying that Christians respect all religions and do not nurture hostility towards anyone. The  Muslims then threatened Gill. They also said that they would charge him before Pakistani authorities with blasphemy  ......

The city of Mardan, in fact, is harbors numerous radical Muslim groups which terrorize civilians, especially religious minorities. “His story is one of many, and a fine example of the frustrations that Christians suffer daily”, explained Haroon Masih, Director of the Masihi Foundation......

The reason of some one burning Koran in US as cause for this kind of intolerance is just childish as many incidents of this nature were reported in the past too.

'Islam abrogates all religions', An English Islamic website says.

I pointed out many times, here, the wide gulf that exists between what Islamic spokesmen say to Non Muslim audience, esp. in Non Muslim majority countries, regarding their religious teachings and actual teachings that appear in Islamic sacred texts and established Islamic sources. One of many, often seen, quotes is Islam teaches tolerance and asks its followers to respect other faiths. What they do not tell you is that this Islamic tolerance comes only after thoroughly subjugating those (conquered) Non Muslims i.e. Non Muslims agreeing to pay Jizya and to abide by many other humiliating conditions (documented here) which will eventually lead to destruction of entire civilization, like in the case of Byzantine Civilization. Even then, this nominal Dhimmi contract does not guarantee physical security to conquered Non Muslims and the best example is genocides of Armenian Christians in Turkey. Reasons for this kind of state of relations that should exist between Muslims and Non Muslims (the former being superior and later in state of abasement) are found in Islamic theology which unambiguously envisages the whole world under sharia law where in Non Muslims are treated as second class citizens. In other words, Muslims believe that Islam is the only true religion and Islam abrogates all other faiths and should rule the entire world.

There may not be Jizya on Non Muslims in Pakistan now but condition of Non Muslims must live in abasement feeling humiliated that comes along with Jizya (verse 9:29) is always in application in various forms like kidnapping of infidel children and infidel women, abject discrimination and violence against infidels and indiscriminate use of blasphemy law. If some one, whether a Muslim or a Non Muslim, dares to speak against these they too will be silenced. When Muslims shout death to Christians in the streets, the message is obvious: either convert or suffer. And Some Christians in Pakistan convert fear into safety :

Koran says 'There is no compulsion in Islam'! wah.......

The Muslim apologists and propagandists, as usual, along with paid Non Muslim agents, say that Koran teaches against using force to convert others to Islam (I rather put the question, 'is Islam against forcing its belief on others?'). They even quote a verse, a part of verse to be accurate, from Koran in their defense as a proof of Islamic tolerance. That verse is:

Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things. (2:256, YUSUF ALI)

The real tragedy is that Non Muslims intuitively fall for this verse's outward appearance and falsely think that Islam counsels religious tolerance without ever questioning what is tolerance itself, how and when. With Koran and Sunna as authority and basis, the way Islam defines tolerance is completely different from the normative sense of 'tolerance' that we understand it to be. This verse refers to Non Muslim subjects living under Islamic rule after they have agreed to pay Jizya and to accept other humiliating conditions to remain in  their faith. To be precise, Islamic tolerance comes after infidels are conquered and it is no less than worst kind of persecution. Muslims having to fight and subdue Non Muslims is not intolerance of Islam but Islam giving Non Muslims, after they are conquered, option of keeping their faith in exchange for Jizya and dehumanizing status of humiliation and degradation is tolerance according to these Islamic apologists. Any way, this post intends to shed light on true nature of this verse.

Muslims Favorite Verse to win over Non Muslims: To you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islam).

When I was relatively new to Islamic doctrines i.e. yet to complete the reading of Koran, I was participating in a discussion in a forum on the topic of persecution of religious minorities in Bangladesh; a woman from Bangladesh wrote, quoting a verse from Koran, proudly that Islam is a religion which teaches “to you be your religion, and to me my religion (Islam)” to showcase Islamic tolerance towards others and that there was never any compulsion in religion in Islamic theology and history.
